Commercial video/photography applications must be received by the Pocatello Parks & Recreation Department no later than thirty (30) business days before the first day of desired setup and may be submitted as early as one (1) year before the first day of desired setup.
Introduction
Each year, the City of Pocatello receives many requests from individuals and groups to shoot commercial video footage or take photos in City parks. Commercial video/photography is defined as any individual, group, business entity, or organization engaged in the “advertising,” “sale of,” OR “collection of a donation in exchange for taking photos, shooting video footage, or any other media-related service” at a public place or park within the City limits.
Examples of commercial video/photography include, but are not limited to, these types of services: family photo shoots, graduating senior photo shoots, YouTube video segments, informative or documentary video segments, etc. Excluded from this requirement are venues that are permitted to hold such activities according to the property’s zoning designation or through an approved Special Use Permit.
- Upon approval, additional permits may be required through the Parks & Recreation Department. Therefore, the applicant may be required to fill out additional permit applications.
- Please note that upon approval of your request, you will be required to pay the applicable permit fees and provide liability insurance coverage for your business.
- You may also be required to fill out additional agency permits—beyond those listed below—depending on the type and scope of the service.
